About the Exhibit
Curated by Susan Berstler
A myriad of cameras, films, development processes, and finally, printing methods and
papers are employed by the 22 artists in Plastic + Film. The subject matter ranges from
the intimate to the majestic, the whimsical to the contemplative. Photographs are comprise
of images taken in New Zealand, Hong Kong, England, California and many places in between,
including Somerville, MA. The artistsˇ¦ seemingly playful choice of equipment (Holga,
Diana, Lomo or whatever model of toy camera used) belies their very serious results.
Plastic + Film is a celebration of the creative spirit and the concept of chance. Its
unique and individual images are a refreshing change to the increasingly homogenized world
of digital images we encounter in everyday life.

About the Exhibit
Project website
"The History of Somerville, 2010-2100" is a community art project that explores what the
future might be like. We've been talking to current and former residents; gathering
official plans; and collecting think-tank vision statements-- and assembling it all into a
history of the future of Somerville. This project is organized by Tim Devin.

The Best Things in Life are FUN!
2nd Annual Fun-A-Day Boston
Artclash Collective
The Nave Gallery hosts the Artclash Collective's 2nd Annual Fun-A-Day Boston. Participants
choose a project and produce one piece of artwork every day for the entire month of
January. The 31 resulting pieces create a narrative outlining each artist's journey
through the first month of the year. Fun-A-Day fulfills on the belief that everyone is an
artist and everything you make is art. This collective project seeks to create a welcoming
forum for people to share what they do, to strengthen existing communities of artists, and
to kick-start new ones.
